WebDec 26, 2024 · There are two main types of engine oil filtration systems, full flow and partial flow! IIRC, the first full flow on Fords was the 1954 Y-block, Flatheads were partial flow. The main difference in these systems are the full flow filters all of the oil, but due to size requirements it does not filter as good as partial flow.
