WebIf it’s a lighter roast, you may want to do 1:2.5 or 1:3. 17 seconds for 40 g is way too quick and indicates either too coarse or improper puck prep. If you are not getting any channeling, then grind finer. Once you get to 18 in 36 out in 25-30, then start tasting. If sour, try a longer pull. If bitter, try a shorter pull. WebXD. Use standard cupping bowls (around 8oz). Weigh 13g of beans into the bowls. Arrange the bowls from light roast to dark roast on the table. Make sure the area is free from other obstructions or clutter so you can easily move around it. Purge your grinder with a very small handful of beans in between each grind to avoid cross contamination.
