Do all those, and start fresh on a full-blueprint wiped server right when it wipes so you're on the same playing field as everyone else.

WebWhen played solo, this game can get overwhelming early on. Once you get the smelter, get the large grill and advanced purifier, things get much easier after that. To get the smelter, you need to dive in order to collect the sand and clay. While you are there get the seaweed, iron, scrap, and some copper. WebIt’s definitely 100% playable solo though it can definitely get to be a bit annoying against larger groups of enemies sometimes. It’s a game that’s generally going to be more fun with friends but they aren’t necessary to enjoy it. As long as you like randomized survival/base building games then you should be able to enjoy it.

WebNo one can loot your raft. You either invite friends to play as a team or you play solo with NPCs Edit: if the people you invite to play with you loot your raft, then yes, they can. I've never invited anyone to play that would do that so I didn't even consider it. Edit 2: I probably misused the terminology NPC.
